Every year, The Tucson Regional Ballet offers up a very unique Nutcracker. They relocate Tchaikovsky's holiday classic to the Tucson of the 1880s, complete with cavalry and rattlesnakes! The company is joined by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra for a night of beautifully costumed and distinctly Southern-flavoured fun.
The Nutcracker begins in the Stahlbaum house. There's music and presents and food, and the three Stahlbaum children are beside themselves with joy at the wonder of it all. There's danger on the horizon though, heralded by the arrival at the door of a local magician. He brings gifts for the children, including a wooden nutcracker. This is just the start of an adventure that will lead our characters into the Land of Sweets, where the dazzling Sugar Plum Fairy awaits!
